Google My Business has quickly turned into the most important place on the Internet for local businesses. The Google My Business listing has become more commonly visited than business’ websites and supplementary listings. This has effectively changed the way in which we do business online, and in the SEO world, it has defined the way we interact with SEO key phrases and listing rankings.

And because of this, it’s incredibly important to claim your Google My Business listing. If you don’t your business isn’t maximizing your potential. If you need help with your Google My Business listing, you can seek advice here. However, not every business is eligible to claim a Google My Business listing. Here’s how to find out if your business is eligible in 3 steps.

To start, you must have a physical address where customers can meet with you. If you move around from location to location, or don’t have a central address, you won’t be able to claim a Google My Business listing. It would probably be wise to invest in making listings on other places (or find a permanent location).

Following that, you must meet face to face with clients during selected business hours. This is how Google prevents there being issues with autonomous business models malfunctioning. However, there are some exceptions for this like “ATMs, video-rental kiosks, and express mail drop boxes”, according to the guidelines. Make sure there’s a person manning your business.

Don’t violate guidelines! There are a series of guidelines and “dos and do nots” for Google My Business listings that can be found here. These are the most important rules, and violation of them can result in the suspension of your GMB listing – which is like a death sentence for your online presence. It’s important to make sure you don’t go against the guidelines if you want to have more people see your queries!

If you fit these qualifications, then you’re good to go! Claiming your Google My Business listing and using the tools at your disposal can take your business to the next level – so make sure to determine your eligibility and get on GMB as soon as possible. It’s your business’ best friend!
